I want to thank all you 'Regulars' for participating in the Frequent Diner Program.
Just a few Reminders...
Your phone number is your account number. Just like at the supermarket you have to tell us you're a club member and give us your phone number so we can apply your order to your account.
The order is manually tracked during the closing of the check and you should be given a frequent diner tracking reciept with your regular reciept.
Please DO NOT write your phone number on your credit card slip- it's too easily overlooked.
The dollar figure resets after each $100 spent and $5 credit earned. The credits stay on your account until you TELL us you want to use them.
Sales tax and tip DO NOT apply in the accumulation of credit.

I'm not finished yet...

Why is finishing so hard? I want to be done. I want that stuff off the list. I want to sit down at the end of my day and know that what I set out to do has been accomplished and now I can rest easy.
It never seems to work out that way.
It seems that as soon as I finish one thing another jumps in to take its place. There is always something else left to do. Of course, I tell myself there's always tomorrow.
I'll get the Christmas gifts in the mail tomorrow. We'll finish the painting at the restaurant Thursday. We'll have the new menu items ready next week. I'll reconcile those accounts as soon as I can. I'll get the fliers out by the first of the month.
But wait... The computers just went down. Auntie needs a ride to the doctor. The parts are on back-order. The car won't start, and now I've got the flu. Perfect.
If you had just one day left, what would get finished?
Jeff and I are going to take the dogs to the park. We'll drop the Christmas gifts in the mail on our way. We're going to have lunch with the girls and our folks, and then have our friends over for some dinner. We're going to make some calls to our far away family to let them know they're loved and then finally, at the end of our day, we're going to rest easy because the important things will be finished.
Our wish for you this holiday season is that you are able to finish the meaningful, ignore the frustrating, forget the painful and have peace at the end of your day.

Soup-a-alooza!
All you can eat Soup du Jour, Salad and Breadsticks - Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30pm -9:00pm
We Shades folks have had a lot going on in the last month or so. While business has been slower than we'd like (where are you people anyway?) we've taken the opportunity to spiff the joint up a bit. We actually closed for two days (that's the first time in 9 years) so we could paint, replace tiles, install new bathroom countertops and a whole myriad of boring 'back-of-house' fixes that actually took much longer than the pretty stuff.
While we had the doors closed, we updated all the computer systems and the phones. I'm hoping to actually get the computers working properly again by the summer :)
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your patience with our dust, and to thank all the staff, friends and family that pitched in on this HUGE project.
Jeff and I made a quick trip to Florida to check in with his folks, David went to Alabama to spend some time with his brother, and then we had Thanksgiving of course.
We've been working on an Adoption Event with the San Diego Humane Society and CruVinWine Group (check NillaBeans section for details).
We've hired a new Assistant Manager, Amanda. She's working really hard at learning the business, so give her a nod of encouragement when you meet her.
We participated in another very successful Ocean Beach Restaurant Walk, and I'm happy to say the feedback on the new soup (Chicken & Artichoke Florentine) was fantastic, and it's now a regular on our soup of the day rotation.

The San Diego Humane Society will be bringing deserving dogs to the Shades patio in hopes of finding them a permanent family.
We know you Regular's love animals as much as we do, and we hope that you'll keep this event in mind if you're thinking of adding a furry friend to your families.
Shades will include a free glass of Loyal Companion Wine and a Fido Meal with every completed adoption.
